The Upwey Billy Cart Race was started in 2006 as a local initiative to bring life and energy into the town. The race is a not-for-profit community event, co-ordinated by volunteers of the Upwey Township Group.

The race is run each year by a Core Committee of volunteers ably led by Robin Hosford, Andrew Fullagar and Peter Van-Santen.  Scores of other volunteers from various Upwey community organisations all come together to run the event including the Upwey CFA, Upwey Scouts, Project Upwey and the UTG.

The event receives major financial support which is crucial to the running of the event.  The UTG would like to thank the Upwey Community Bank Branch (Bendigo Bank) and Yarra Ranges Council for their continued support and generous sponsorship of the event over the years.  We look forward to continuing our relationship in the years to come.

Many local traders, community groups and individuals contribute prizes, expertise and time that is invaluable to the running of the event and to the support of all the race winners and participants.

For details on the list of sponsors for this year, check out the Upwey Billy Cart Race webpage.
