This is an easily accessible place to go to find out what’s happening in “Your Town” in all areas fostering social inclusion. It unites and promotes awareness of group and volunteer opportunities and encourages “Shop Local” to continue enhancing our buoyant and thriving village community. An association of community groups and clubs brought together in the interests of developing a specialised building, and other general community facilities at the site. The aim is to accommodate the varied needs of the member groups in a mutually advantageous facility. We are delighted to have 23 Groups and Clubs working co-operatively towards this exciting common goal.
The Burrinja centre is a cultural hub for the Dandenong Ranges that supports existing and enables the development of new, experiential and distinctive arts practice, providing outcomes that contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the region.
Glenfern Valley Bushlands Inc.
The Friend of Glenfern Valley Bushlands have a mission to conserve and enhance the diversity of native flora and fauna of the Glenfern Valley Bushlands while preserving community access and encouraging education and compatible uses for the enjoyment of current and future generations. Their key goals are: to protect and enhance natural values; provide safe and compatible recreation opportunities; involve the community in the reserve; and ensure sound and sustainable management.
The UTG has a role in managing a number of grants funded through Yarra Ranges Council.
The UTG is the auspicing body for Council to assessed and award funding applications through the Yarra Ranges Grants for Community program which supports community-based projects that build the social and cultural life of the region. It is a platform for local groups, not-for-profit organisations and individuals to lead projects that identify and respond to community concerns and aspirations.
The UTG also takes a leading role in assessing and awarding funding for Council's Township Network Grants process which provides funding support to incorporated Township Groups to assist them in planning and delivering community focussed events.
